Intro / Who They Are

SS Security Co is a Manchester-based startup providing physical security services to nationwide corporate clients and residential buildings. As a new company, they came to us with no previous branding in place.

Challenge / Problem

SS Security Co were already experts in their field but their lack of branding meant nothing communicated that expertise. In an industry full of predictable visual shorthand (padlocks, shields, literal security imagery), they didn't want to blend in. They wanted to be the first choice for nationwide corporate and residential clients which meant the brand had to carry the same authority as the service itself.

Strategy / Approach

We built the identity around a small set of guiding principles: strength, approachability, simplicity, legibility, professionalism, and national reach.

The design went through real iteration to get there. The first concept paired two S's at odds with each other one vertical, one horizontal, overlapping and it didn't work; it read as busy rather than confident. The second concept became the approved direction: a doubled "SS" where straight lines and curves work together rather than against each other, giving the mark both structure and warmth.

Solution / Design

The final mark combines two S's built from straight lines and curves straight lines to communicate strength, curves to communicate approachability and simplicity. The repetition of the letterform also does practical work: it improves legibility and recognisability at a glance, whether it's stamped small on a laptop or embroidered large on a jacket.

The colour palette is a deep blue toned down toward purple blue for trust, softened just enough to suggest a quiet sense of wisdom and competence, the sense that they know exactly what they're doing.

The system was built out across business cards, laptop decals, and uniform embroidery, underpinned by clear logo construction and clear-space guidelines to keep the mark consistent across every application.

Results / Impact

For the first time, SS Security Co's branding and their expertise work hand in hand the visual identity now carries the same authority the company already had in the industry.
